Join The Driftless chef Justin McComas and owner Kyla McComas as they walk you through the flavors of the French Quarter and have you experiencing a Fat Tuesday feast a little early this year.

You will enjoy a multi-course tasting menu at Dubuque’s newest special event space, The Driftless, located in the Historic Millwork District. Enjoy great company and food, all for a great cause.

Inspired by the museum’s Flow: Journey through the Mississippi River Watershed exhibit, students will use water to create droplet-themed artwork. Students will have a chance to play with watercolors, watercolor pencils, and blowing, misting, and splatter-painting techniques.

Students will examine the history of self-portraits and compare them to the “selfies” of today. A self-portrait will be created using a “selfie” students have taken.

Students will try out the techniques and tricks of portrait drawing, including the study of facial proportions and learn about the subtle shading needed to bring their portraits to life! Students have the option to create a self-portrait, study a classmate, or use a photograph as a portrait subject.

Students will explore the connections between art and science. After a tour of the Flow: Journey through the Mississippi River Watershed exhibition, students will make their own artistic contribution to science by creating a science illustration using mixed media.

Famous Dead Artists – Georgia O’Keefe & Alfred Stieglitz

Iconic artist of the Southwest, Georgia O’Keeffe, played by Lenore Howard and American photographer and modern art promoter, Alfred Stieglitz, played by Doug Donald, will be the first couple in the 30th Famous Dead Artist program.

One of the Museum’s most anticipated annual events, the Famous Dead Artist series brings legendary artists to life through portrayals by local actors. Featured artists span the visual, performing, literary, and culinary worlds and have included Pablo Picasso, Charlie Chaplin, Julia Child, and Leonard Bernstein, among many others.

The Famous Dead Artist program is generously sponsored by Ed and Susie Ritts.

An Additional Performance Scheduled & Reservations Required

Due to the popularity of the Famous Dead Artist program there will be two performances - Saturday, December 7 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, December 8 at 1:00 p.m Guests will need to make reservations to attend a performance.
